A method which allows for automatically downloading a new version when available is necessary. It could just point to a release, but needs an indication of the newest version available.

While version v1.1.0-alpha does add auto updates, this does not work for windows, since the .jar file is locked. I'd prefer if we could keep the software in a single .jar, or at least let the downloaded file install itself when run.
